The surface box for underground hydrants is fitted with a polyurethane insert (HYDROpur), which is firmly bonded to the cast iron cover and prevents direct contact with the cast iron frame. This effectively prevents rusting or freezing.
Surface Box STRAKApur for Underground Hydrants
with an insert to prevent freezing/rusting
| Standard | DIN 4055 |

Due to corrosion or freezing, surface boxes are often difficult to remove and may need to be broken open, which can be a time-consuming process. This can, for example, hinder the fire department when they need access to an underground hydrant. The STRAKApur surface box offers a solution to this problem by using a special insert around the cover to prevent direct contact between the cast iron frame and the cast iron cover.
Benefits
No freezing or rusting
Easy access for emergency services
As there is no risk of the cover becoming stuck or frozen, this makes it easier for the fire service to remove the cover and thus gain access to the underground hydrant. There is no need to force the cover open.
Low wear
The HYDROpur insert reduces wear on cast iron components, thereby extending the service life of the surface box.
Easy to replace
The cover fits into any frame complying with DIN 4055 and can be fitted into existing surface boxes.
Durability
The HYDROpur insert is resistant to:
Frost, de-icing salt and UV radiation
Hydrolysis
Microbes and mineral oils
5-year guarantee
We are so confident in the HYDROpur® insert that we offer a 5-year guarantee on it.
